Coffey County officials say human remains found at an eastern Kansas reservoir are believed to be those of an 11-year-old boy who has been missing since a boating accident in December.
The sheriff’s office says the remains found Saturday at the John Redmond Reservoir likely are those of Jeremy Jenkins. He’s been missing since a capsized boat was found on the reservoir on Dec. 4.
The bodies of Jeremy’s father and uncle were found near the boat. The three had been waterfowl hunting before the accident.
The sheriff’s office says people riding ATVs at the reservoir on Saturday found the remains. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that an autopsy will be performed to verify the identity of the body.
