In the aftermath of the tornado May 22 in Joplin there have been volunteers by the thousands pitching in to help clear away the mess and recover lost belongings. Signs reading “Free Food” are everywhere. Random acts of kindness, from strangers, are happening all over town.
Meghan among a group of people cleaning up at St Mary’s Catholic Church. The only thing left standing was the cross. Procter & Gamble opened up tents in parking lots to give away flashlights, batteries, shampoo, soap, and even free laundry service. Jonathon Guthrie is the principal at Lincoln Junior High in Bentonville, Arkansas. Guthrie and about thirty others, dropped what they were doing and traveled to Joplin to lend a hand.
