St. Joseph shuts out Ozark to sweep doubleheader

The St. Joseph Mustangs scored double figure runs for the third time in four games Saturday night in the second game of a doubleheader sweep against Ozark inside Phil Welch Stadium.  The Mustangs shutout the Generals 14-0 as they finish their five-game home stand 4-1.

St. Joe’s summer college baseball team improves to 18-3 and 14-3 in the MINK League.

Just like game one, the Mustangs galloped out to a big lead earlier by scoring five runs in the first inning, three in the second and four runs in the third inning.

Brent Seifert had two hits as he hit his third home run of the season and drove in four runs.  Jeff Roy also had two hits and four RBI.

St. Joseph was helped out Saturday by five Ozark errors and eight walks which accounted for five unearned runs.

Adam Maddox (2-0) went six scoreless innings to get the win as he allowed just four hits.  He struck out six and walked one.

The Mustangs are back on the road Sunday as they play at Ozark in another doubleheader that begins at 5:00 p.m.
