Fort Riley Soldier Killed In Action

The community at Fort Riley is mourning the loss of one of their own. The Defense Department says Private First Class Brice Scott of Columbus, Georgia was killed in action July 31st in Afghanistan.

Officials say insurgents attacked with small arms fire while his unit was pulling security at a strong point in Kandahar Province of southern Afghanistan.

Scott, 22, is survived by his wife and one child.

He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based at Fort Riley.

He joined the Army in March 2010 as a cavalry scout. This was his first deployment. He deployed to Afghanistan with 4-4 Cavalry in February 2011.
