(UPDATE) Charges Filed In KCI Bomb Scare

A former New York police officer with a history of mental illness is accused of trying to take a fake bomb through security at Kansas City International Airport on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Anthony Falco Jr. is charged in federal court with knowingly making false statements to officers. Falco allegedly refused to open a carry-on bag when asked to by security screeners.

The scare at KCI caused flight delays across the country.

The security scare happened Sunday morning on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

A bomb squad sprayed water at high pressure to determine the device was not an explosive.
