Platte County Sheriff Will Not Seek Reelection

Sheriff Richard Anderson has announced he will not seek reelection and will retire when his current term expires next year. At the end of this term, he will have served as Sheriff for 16 years and will have more than 45 years in law enforcement.

Anderson has decided to retire to pursue other interests, including spending more time with his wife and work on his horse farm.

“My wife and I have a lot of things we want to do, and continuing my law enforcement career after this term as Sheriff doesn’t fit in with our plans, ” Anderson said.

“We want to spend more time enjoying our families, more time enjoying our farm and more time enjoying our horse related activities. I can’t do those things the way I want to and also devote the time to the responsibilities of the office of Sheriff that the citizens of Platte County have a right to expect. Therefore, the time has come for me to retire. I have enjoyed my soon to be 16 years as Sheriff, and I appreciate the trust Platte County citizens have placed in me during my 4 terms.”
