A power outage early this morning left nearly 8-thousand Saint Joseph homes and businesses in the dark. The lights flickered at 3:45 am over a wide area and for thousands of KCP&L customers the power did not come back on right away. Power to most customers was restored within one hour. The outage stretched from north end to south end, through midtown, to much of northeast and southeast Saint Joseph.

The outage was the second in less than 24 hours. Yesterday afternoon a transformer problem knocked out service to about 2800 customers.
