After a slow start, the Missouri Western women’s basketball team got it going in a big way, defeating Livin the Dream, 96-52 in an exhibition opener at the MWSU Fieldhouse Thursday night. The Griffons’ 96 points were the most scored by the team in any game since 2007, when they scored 99 against Central Missouri. It would be the team’s third highest point total in program history.

Brittany Casady added 11 and Caitlin Linihan chipped in 10. The Griffons shot 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from behind the arc.
Western scored 30 points off turnovers and finished with a 42-12 points in the paint advantage. The Griffons trailed by four at the 15:34 mark, but took over and led by as many as 48 points.
The women open regular season play, Saturday, Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. when they host Quincy University at the fieldhouse.
