Missouri Western Women’s Golf Head Coach, Cathy Habermehl, has announced the signing of three student-athletes for the 2012-13 season. Western Athletics welcomes Amber Chivington of St. Joseph, Mo., Callie Wilson of Hermantown, Minn., and Anna Kloeppel of Kansas City, Mo. to the program.
A St. Joseph native, Chivington golfed at Central High School in St. Joseph, Mo. Amber was a four-year letter winner for the Indians. She earned All-City and All-Conference honors all four years of her high school career. She was also a two-time All-District selection and qualified for the State tournament three times. Chivington lettered four years in soccer; earning All-City and All-Conference honors on the pitch. During her senior season on the links, she had four first place finishes. Off the links, Chivington was named to the Principal’s Honor Roll and named Student of the Month. She has volunteered with safety town, youth basketball camps and youth soccer camps. She plans on majoring in Education at Western.
Callie Wilson attends Hermantown High School in Hermantown, Minn. Wilson lettered three years in golf and two in basketball. As a golfer, Callie won Conference and Sectional tournaments twice and helped her team to three Conference and Sectional titles. She also was named to the All-State Tournament Team. As a junior, she finished 19th at State. Her senior season will be played in the spring of 2012. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was named Academic All-State as a golfer. Callie plans on majoring in Accounting and Business at Western.
Anna Kloeppel is from Kansas City, Mo. and attends Park Hill North High School. Anna was a three-year letter winner for the Trojans. She earned All-Conference honors four years, All-District three times and All-State her senior year. In high school she is involved in Student Council and is a Freshman Mentor. Anna plans on majoring in Physical Therapy at Western.
“Anna, Amber and Callie are leaders in their schools’ golf programs, as well as, in the top percentage of their class rankings academically,” commented coach Habermehl. “We are excited to have a mix of local and distant talent combining with our current players for next year. I believe that each of them will bring a “competitive edge” that will ensure our program’s continued success!”
