Missouri Collects $20 Million In Medicaid Fraud Cases

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster says his office collected more than $20 million from Medicaid fraud cases last year.

Koster said his Medicaid Fraud Control Unit had resolved criminal cases involving 11 medical and home health care providers. The unit also resolved civil cases involving 15 health care providers.

Koster said people who commit Medicaid fraud are stealing from state taxpayers. He said the money his office recovered in 2011 should serve as a warning to people who are thinking about committing fraud.

Medicaid fraud can be reported to the state on Koster’s website (ago.mo.gov) or by calling a state hotline number, 800-286-3932.
