An army general at Fort Riley is up for promotion.

The Defense Department on Monday announced that Brigadier General Paul E. Funk II has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general.

Funk is currently serving as deputy commanding general for maneuver of the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, a post he’s held since July, 2011.
