GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (AP) – Jackson County authorities are concerned that a Grain Valley elementary school teacher accused of molesting four young boys might have more victims.
Thirty-three-year-old Matthew J. Nelson was charged Wednesday with one count of first-degree child molestation and three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy.
Nelson taught at Prairie Branch Elementary school for several years.
He also coaches soccer at Grain Valley High School.
Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker says the boys’ parents called police last month after their sons accused Nelson of touching them inappropriately while they were in his classroom.
Grain Valley Police Chief Aaron Ambrose asked parents of other possible victims to come forward.
Online court records do not list an attorney for Nelson.
