Thousands flocked to the new Hollywood Casino at the Kansas Speedway for its opening Friday.
The $368 million gambling house opened to much fanfare at noon, and by 10 p.m., an estimated 15,000 showed up to try their luck.
There are still some unresolved issues.
They’re not yet sure how to handle use of the casino lounge overlooking turn two of the racetrack on race days. Some fans may rent out the lounge to watch the race. The developers are now planning the second phase of the project, which will eventually include retail space and a hotel.
The casino is a joint venture of International Speedway Corp.and Penn National Gaming Inc. of Wyomissing, Pa., which also owns the Argosy casino in Kansas City, Mo. Because the state approved the expansion, a second Sprint Cup NASCAR race was added last year.
