HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) – The Mark Twain Museum in Hannibal is about to turn 100
Celebrations are planned to mark the occasion.
Museum executive director Cindy Lovell says events marking the centennial will start May 15 – the 100th anniversary of the day the museum was dedicated in 1912.
The museum now consists of eight buildings and statue properties.
The museum plans a special exhibit made up of photos and stories from people about their experiences visiting the museum. Authors and speakers are expected to make appearances in Hannibal from May through the end of the year, including actor Hal Holbrook, who is well-known for his portrayal of Mark Twain.
The museum also plans a bluegrass concert during National Tom Sawyer Days in July.
