Google Inc officials heading up their fiber efforts in Kansas City are hoping to provide Internet-based home TV.

Google Fiber Kansas LLC filed applications with utility regulators in Missouri and Kansas.

The firm seeks franchises to offer the service in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas, where Google is laying its ultra-fast Internet network.

The application states that the company will utilize national and regional video headend facilities to send IPTV (Internet protocol television) across a private IP network to subscribers.

The applications come on the heels of Google beginning construction on the local networks, which started Feb. 6.
