Western, Bird finish 2nd at MIAA golf championship

The Missouri Western women’s golf team came up just short in its bid for its first ever MIAA Conference Championship finishing in 2nd place firing a two round total of 665 (336-329). The winner of the event was Fort Hays State firing 664 (333-331) while Northwest Missouri State finished third with a 667 (338-329). Natalie Bird finished second individually with a 160 (79-81) earning All-Tournament team honors.

Western had two other players finish in the top ten as Kristen Cooley (89-78) and Casi Webb (82-85) finished tying for 7th with 167’s. Shelby Stone (86-86) and Darcy Smith (91-85) finished firing 172 and 176 respectively.

Lincoln University and Truman State University rounded out the five team field firing 680 (348-332) and 700 (362-338) respectively. The winner of the event was Northwest’s Cassie Lowell as she fired 152 (76-76).

Western says good-bye to senior student-athlete’s Kristen Cooley, Sarah Campbell and Britni Nikes for all the hard work and efforts they put in for the black and gold.
