A college student from northeast Kansas and another from north central Missouri are among 12 winners in the “maurices Main Street Model Search.” Julie Sperfslage of Seneca, Kansas and Brittany Tutt of Dawn, Missouri will model for the young women’s fashion retailer in an upcoming fashion campaign.
Both winners will receive $1,500 in maurices clothing and will appear in merchandising in retail stores, including here in St Joseph, and online at www.maurices.com.
A graphic design major at Fort Hays State University, Sperfslage named the Nemaha County Relay for Life as her nonprofit. That group will receive a $7,500 charitable makeover.

Brittany Tutt, a student at Stephens College in Columbia, selected as her charity the Chillicothe Animal Shelter, which will also receive the $7,500 prize.
This is the second year maurices has held the contest. Sperfslage and Tutt were among more than 1,400 women from around the country who entered.
Online voters narrowed the search to the top 100 and maurices chose 20 of these women to attend a casting call in Minneapolis, Minn., last week.
The judging panel from maurices, including celebrity judge and maurices designer Christopher Straub from Lifetime’s “Project Runway,” got to know each woman and selected the 12 winners.
