
Memorial Day is over but honoring veterans continues in Missouri. Jeremy Amick says Silver Star Families of America recognizes veterans who were wounded in action.
The Silver Star program started during World War One, when the families of servicemen and women displayed Blue Star Banners. They began sewing silver thread into the Blue Stars when a loved one was wounded.
Amick says combat wounds are often visible, but not always, as in cases of brain injury or PTSD. He says veterans honored with Silver Star Banners are very grateful, and they don’t realize how grateful WE are,
