An animal rights group wants the state of Kansas to post a memorial sign at the spot on Interstate 70 where a crash killed dozens of cattle in April. The request to the Kansas Department of Transportation comes from PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Thirty to 40 cattle were killed April 26th when the truck they were in plunged off I-70 in Kansas City, Kansas, onto a street below. The driver was injured and the truck burst into flames.
Some of the cows escaped, but others died in the crash or had to be euthanized. PETA says a memorial sign at the site would remind tractor-trailer drivers of their responsibility to the animals they transport.
