Two Kansas men are dead after accidents involving lawn mowers.
Just after noon Monday, an 88-year-old man was killed when he tried to cross a busy highway on his riding mower. The Kansas Highway Patrol says John Schmidt of Weir, Kansas was hit on his mower about three miles south of Pittsburg on US-400.
A weekend accident in north-central Kansas claimed the life of a 63-year-old man. Bob Johnson was killed in the accident Saturday afternoon in rural Concordia.
Officials say Johnson was mowing his neighbors lawn on a steep slope when his mower tipped over and rolled on top of him.
Passing motorists stopped to help. They were able to get the mower off of Johnson.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
