KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A jury has recommended a fine but no jail time for a Kansas City man who shot his mother-in-law to death.
A Jackson County Circuit Court jury on Wednesday convicted 28-year-old Michael Tittone guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
Tittone says he shot 52-year-old Pamela Groves after she hit him in the throat during an argument in August of last year.
The conviction carries a prison sentence of up to seven years.
Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker says her office was surprised by the jury’s recommendation for no jail time, but respects the decision.
Judge John Torrence will determine how much Tittone will be fined.
