The St. Joseph Mustangs won their second straight game as they went to Sedalia Tuesday and defeated the Bombers, 4-2.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball team is now 28-10 this season and 24-10 in the MINK League.
The Mustangs broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning when Maxime LeFevre hit a two-out single that scored Jake Kretzer to make it 1-0.
St. Joseph added three more runs in the sixth inning as Tanner Lubach had a one-run single and Shane Segovia drove in two runs with a single.
Sedalia scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings, but St. Joe’s bullpen duo of Phillip Wilson and Chris Green closed the door.
Wilson got the final two outs of the eighth and Green earned his third save as he recorded the last three outs.
Cody Cunningham went 7.2 innings and improved to 7-0 this season as he allowed two runs and three hits. Cunningham struck out four and walked four batters.
Segovia led the offense as he finished 3-for-4, while Lubach, Kretzer, Kyle Simpson and Kyle Koerper scored one run each.
The Mustangs are back at home Wednesday as they entertain Omaha at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 1550 AM.
