Fire crews were dispatched this afternoon to an injury accident near Faraon Street on Riverside Road. Initial reports indicated a woman was trapped.

The accident involving a bus and two cars was reported to police at about 12:49 pm.

Police officers had to close the intersection for about half an hour. Witnesses say there were extensive traffic backups.

 

Update: By about 1:20 pm rescue workers had removed the woman from the car, and had transported her to the emergency room at Heartland Regional Medical Center. There is no official word yet on the nature or severity of her injuries.
