Two soldiers assigned to the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley were killed in action last week in Afghanistan. The Pentagon identifies the victims as 1st Lt. Todd W. Lambka, 25, of Fraser, Mich., and Pfc. Jesus J. Lopez, 22, of San Bernardino, Calif. Next of kin have been notified.
Lambka was a graduate of West Point Academy whose twin brother Jordan is also serving in another region of Afghanistan.
The pair died August 1 in Paktika Province of wounds sustained during an attack with a roadside bomb and another improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.
