The Kansas Supreme Court begins offering live, online video streams of oral arguments for the first time this week. The court has offered live audio streaming for about eight years.
In an announcement last week, Chief Justice Lawton Nuss said they believe this will benefit schools and make the judicial process more accessible to the public.
On Friday, starting at 9am, the court will hear a high-profile case involving a decade old controvery. The court will hear arguments in Sierra Club vs (KDHE Secretary) Robert Moser in an appeal of the decision to allow a coal-fired power plant expansion in southwestern Kansas.
Kansas joins more than a dozen states which allow live video and audio feeds of high court proceedings.
