Lansing Prison Chief Retires After 37 Years With Kansas DOC

Warden David McKune announced he will step down from the helm at Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) after 37 years with the Kansas Department of Corrections.

McKune’s last day will be September 15.

However, Warden McKune will continue his career in corrections as the Director for the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center.

“As the longest serving warden at the KDOC, Dave has provided a solid sense of stability and guidance for Lansing Correctional Facility throughout his many years,” said Secretary Ray Roberts.

“I am most proud of the 21 years I have served as Warden of LCF,” Warden McKune said. “I have said countless times that my longevity is, in fact, thanks to the dedicated and professional employees of LCF. Together we have accomplished many great things.”

“During the search for a new warden at Lansing Correctional Facility, each of the three LCF Deputy Wardens, Rex Pryor, Colette Winkelbauer, and Kyle Deere, will rotate the role and duties of Acting Warden,” said Deputy Secretary Johnnie Goddard.
