The Benedictine College Women’s Basketball program and head coach Chad Folsom have announced his team’s 2012-2013 schedule, which includes 15 home games, eight games against NAIA National Tournament opponents, and an exhibition with NCAA Div. II power Washburn University.

“We have set up a competitive non-conference schedule for our team, that should help us prepare for the tough Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC),”Coach Folsom said.

The Ravens open up the season at a classic in Olathe, hosted by at MidAmerica Nazarene University on, Nov. 2 and Nov. 3 against Bethany College and Sterling College.  The Ravens then return to their home court for six of their next seven games, including matchups with 2012 NAIA Div. II tournament qualifiers, Briar Cliff University on Nov. 6, Friends University on Nov. 17, and College of St. Mary on Nov. 20.

On Nov. 25, Benedictine will have an interesting matchup at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, Coach Folsom’s alma mater.

“I am really looking forward to taking our team to Grinnell and see all the changes that have taken place since I graduated from there,” Folsom said.

In December, the Ravens schedule is highlighted by a trip to Florida to play in the Daytona Beach Classic.  In Florida, the Ravens will face perennial NAIA Div. I power Shawnee State University from Ohio.

“The trip to Florida will be great for our team to bond and spend some quality time at Disney World and the beach, and play some high-caliber competition,” Folsom said..

The conference schedule heats up the second semester with 16 conference matchups, eight of which are at home.

The team finishes the regular season with senior night at 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 against Avila University.

“The HAAC is a tough conference, and every night is going to be a battle,” Coach Folsom said.
