Body Found In Truman Lake

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent homicide after the body of a teenage female was found floating in Truman Lake.

A pair of boaters found the body Sunday, and officials say it appeared to have been weighted down.

Sheriff Rick Fajen won’t discuss the manner of death or the condition of the body, which has not yet been identified.

Fajen says the body is that of a white female, about 13 to 20 years old, and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. Investigators believe it had been submerged for as long as six months.

Investigators have contacted nearby counties and sent alerts throughout Missouri and surrounding states, to compare the description to missing-person reports.

If you can help the investigation, call the Benton County Sheriff’s Department at 660-438-5252 or the Missouri Highway Patrol at 816-622-0800.
