After more than six hours of public interviews, nearly three hours of deliberations and six rounds of balloting, the Missouri Appellate Judicial Commission has chosen three nominees to fill a vacancy on the state Supreme Court.
The nominees including a sitting Jackson County Circuit Court Judge, Michael W. Manners.
Also nominated were Paul C. Wilson, a Columbia lawyer, and Stanley J. Wallach, an attorney from St. Louis.
Richard B. Teitelman, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri and chairman of the commission, announced the nominees this week.
The Supreme Court vacancy exists due to the resignation of Judge William Ray Price Jr., who retired in August of 2012 after serving 20 years on the Court, including two terms as chief justice.
The governor has 60 days to select one member of the panel to fill the vacancy. Should he fail to do so, the Missouri Constitution directs the commission to make the appointment.
