An 82-year-old Maryville man was arraigned Tuesday on charges of fondling the 14-year-old granddaughter of his girlfriend.

Lawrence King is being held under five-thousand dollars bond on one misdemeanor count of second degree child molestation. If he is released, King has been ordered not to reside in the same home or come within one hundred feet of the victim, who was identified in court documents by her initials.

Officials say King lived in the same house with the victim, her mother and grandmother.

An affidavit indicates that King has admitted touching the victim inappropriately when she was in his bedroom getting candy.
