Sandy Forces Cancellation Of Dozens Of Flights At KCI

Dozens of flights into and out of Kansas City International Airport have been cancelled so far due to Hurricane Sandy.  Officials say there were no standed travelers at KCI because they learned in advance from news reports and individual airlines.

According to the Kansas City Aviation Department, there have been a total of 49 departures from KCI that were cancelled since Sunday.   Officials say 35 flights scheduled from the affected area to Kansas City were cancelled during that period.

The affected airlines are adjusting their flight change policies, with some providing refunds or waiving change fees.  Passengers have been advised to contact their airline to change their flights.

There are no crowds at KCI airline ticket counters because passengers have been notified by the airlines or have learned on their own that they can rebook in advance. For this reason, it is a good idea to provide all possible contact information to the airline when booking your flight.
