A former guard at the jail in St. Louis will be sentenced next month after being convicted of forcing a female inmate to have sex with him.

Tony West, 36, was found guilty Thursday in the sexual assault of a 29-year-old inmate at the St. Louis Justice Center.

The woman was in jail for writing bad checks.

She told investigators that West told her he could have charges against her removed if she had sex with him.

Sentencing is Dec. 13.
