Missouri Western volleyball defeated Lindenwood Saturday afternoon 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-15). The Griffons are now 14-15 overall as are the Lions.
The Griffons won the first set 25-11. They never trailed, taking a double-digit lead with a kill by Stephanie Hattey to mark it 19-8. Missouri Western continued to dominate the rest of the way, winning the set 25-11.
The second set was the closest of the match, as the two teams matched points until it was tied at 19. The Griffons made a late run to secure the second game 25-23 and go up 2-0.
MWSU finished the match with a 25-15 third-set victory to pick up the road win.
Jessie Thorup led the Griffons with nine kills in the match. Jordan Chohon had 14 assists to lead the Griffons in that category for the second straight night.
Up Next: The Griffons play Quincy University at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the MWSU Fieldhouse. Missouri Western will honor its two seniors, Torey Lyman and Lindsey Williams, both are outside hitters.
