City Manager Bruce Woody says staff will draw up a “middle of the road” anti-smoking ordinance for Council consideration. Woody says members of the City Council have gradually become interested in a possible ban on smoking, but they’re not committed to taking any action. He says members want to see a proposal that’s not extreme.
Woody is looking at smoking ordinances from 34 Missouri cities. After staff has prepared a draft ordinance, Councilmembers will hold “stakeholder” meetings to get input from affected groups like bar-owners, restaurants, and the general public.
