Charges were filed Tuesday against one of the four men arrested after a standoff on St Joe’s south side Monday afternoon.
Arraignment is scheduled November 27th for Stanley Zed Fadden II on one class-B felony count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Prosecutors charged Fadden as a prior and persistent drug offender, which increases the range of punishment to the level of a class-A felony without probation or parole. A judge set bond at $150 thousand. Investigators say Fadden had recently traveled out of state to obtain narcotics, has ties in other states, and has the financial ability to travel.
In court documents, officials say he has failed to appear in court on prior occasions and has shown the willingness to hide from or resist law efforts to arrest him.
Fadden was arrested after a nearly six-hour standoff at his home at 6211 Brown Street in South St Joseph. Captain Mike Donaldson of the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force says the Special Response Team found the suspect in a crawl space.
“The combined Buchanan County St Joe SRT Team, when they executed the warrant, did an excellent job of searching that house looking for suspects,” Donaldson said.
“He was well hidden in a crawl space under the house, and he could have easily been missed. But, because they did such a good search, they were able to find him.”
Donaldson says officers seized a dealer quantity, multiple pounds, of marijuana.
“We don’t have an actual weight on it yet,” he says. “It was a mid- to upper-level dealer amount, multiple pounds.”
“This was a very high-grade marijuana, not like most of what we see throughout Northwest Missouri.”
