Two juveniles accused in connection with the death of a St Joseph woman last month will be held in juvenile detention pending further hearings in their adjudication.
A judge on Monday ordered both suspects be detained pending status hearings next week.
The pair are being held in connection with the theft of a truck that was involved in a crash at 22nd Street and 11th Street Road November 28.
The truck did not stop at a stop sign and careened into a van driven by Joellen Abbott. The 40-year-old St Joseph woman died later at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Police say there were four teenagers in the truck at the time of the crash. The 16-year-old male driving the truck is charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony tampering with a vehicle. He is scheduled for a status hearing December 11 at 11am, according to Buchanan County Chief Juvenile Officer Linda Meyer.
Meyer says the other juvenile, charged with misdemeanor tampering, is scheduled for a status hearing December 13 at 1:45 pm, and will also remain in custody.
