City officials and developers are moving ahead with preliminary plans to expand and renovate Krug Park. The St Joseph City Council on Monday voted to sign a Memorandum Of Understanding, but officials insist it is not a final commitment to any plans for the park
Council members agreed to the MOU with Krug Park Development, headed up by an heir of Henry Krug Sr., Jeremiah Reeves.
The group hopes to expand the amphitheater to seat 25 thousand people.
Supporters say they could generate an estimated $100 million by booking dozens of modern theater and musical acts.
Coming up next, a business plan and concept proposal, which they will bring back before the city council.
Krug Park opened to the public in 1902. The park’s 163 acres house an amphitheater, a lagoon, rose gardens, picnic areas, an Italian castle, scenic walking trails, and various playgrounds and picnic areas.
