A new volunteer effort to provide diapers to families in need is getting organized in Saint Joseph. Brigitte Lindstrom says Diaper Depot will be similar to a program in Kansas City called Happy Bottoms, which collects disposal diapers and donates them to needy families.

Diaper Depot is the brainchild of a Leadership Saint Joseph team. They were looking for an unmet need in in the community and learned that there are no government programs providing diapers to needy families. Diaper Depot plans diaper drives December 20 at Collision Repair Specialists and December 23 at the North Belt Walmart. They hope to begin distributing diapers next spring.
