An area golfer scored as ace by shopping in St Joseph.  Stacey Dye received the winning ticket in the Shop St Joseph Holiday Program sponsored by the St Joseph Metro Chamber, and wins the 10-thousand dollar grand prize.

Dye got the winning ticket while shopping at On-Site Golf.

Ms. Dye picked up the ticket with the winning numbers, 0172387, while doing her annual holiday shopping.

“I try to shop at Shop St. Joseph stores every year,” Ms. Dye said. “I work at a small business that is locally owned and operated and I know how tough it is for small town owners to keep their businesses afloat. I know it’s easy to go online and shop, but it’s worth it to go to small town shops because they are really quaint and nice and the people who work there are very friendly.”

“Golf is in my family,” Ms. Dye said with a smile. She wouldn’t reveal what she bought there because the purchase may have been a gift for her brother, local golf star Brad Nurski.

Dye lives in Agency but is originally from St Joe.

She said she and her husband will use the $10,000 prize to help pay off Christmas credit card debt, donate to charity and save for the future. The Dyes have two sons, ages 12 and 14. “Cars and college aren’t too far away,” she said
