Off-Duty Lawrence Officer Dies In Crash


The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the traffic death of a Lawrence, Kansas police officer early Wednesday morning. Officer Matthew Klock, 29, was killed when his vehicle hit a traffic signal pole.

According to a crash report, Klock driving a Nissan PC on 6th Street in Lawrence at about two a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle crossed left of center and hit the signal pole at 6th & Wakarusa.

Klock was treated at the scene but died from his injuries. He had been with the Lawrence Police Department since 2007.
