James “Jim” T. Lafferty, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at his home. He was born April 29, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri. On February 17, 1951 he married Joyce Rose Hill. She preceded him in death on May 16, 1992 He owned Lafferty Trucking Service, Red Rocker Antiques, and worked in construction. Jim enjoyed fishing, antiquing, remodeling homes, reading, and bird watching. He is survived by his loving and dedicated companion of thirteen years Mary Jeffers of the home; devoted daughter, Jamie (Stuart) Wombwell; son, Kevin Lafferty; daughter-in-law, Toni Lafferty; granddaughters, Amy Collier and Erron Lafferty; great-grand-sons, Jacob, Brodie, and Colbee; great-granddaughter, Madison Collier; sister, Jean Portis; brothers, Dave Lafferty and Jerry Lafferty; honorary children, Connie Gross (Larry), Steve Shouse (Clarice), Paul Shouse (Deb), Jimmy Shouse (Linda) and their families; and dear family friends Maxine Kubin and Pat Bigelow. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Lafferty; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Cliff Rhodes. Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Matilda Cardella “Tillie” Fitzpatrick 1930-2013 Matilda Cardella “Tillie” Fitzpatrick, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1930 to Samuel and Frances Cardella in Omaha, Nebraska. Tillie married John A. Poe, Jr. on January 7, 1957. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1974. Later she married Edward Fitzpatrick on July 7, 1987 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2010. She was an Elementary Teacher for the St. Joseph School District for seventeen years. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, a lifetime member of Missouri Retired Teachers Association, a sustaining member of the St. Joseph Junior League, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Chapter, St. Joseph Historical Society, the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art, the Benton Club and the St. Joseph Country Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and sister, Marianne Meers. Survivors: son, John Poe; daughters, Joan Hutton (Doug), children, Tommy and Laura; Marcy George (David), child, John; four stepsons, Mike (Michelle), Dan (Kim), Joseph, and John Fitzpatrick; two step-daughters, Suzie Dunaway (Steve) and Sally Pickard (Michael); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronald Dean Burns, 55, Sheridan, Missouri, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.Ron was born October 3, 1957, in Maryville, to Lowell Dean and Helen LaRue West Burns.
A 1976 graduate of Sheridan High School, he was a farmer in the Sheridan area and owner /operator of the Burns Service, Sheridan.Preceding in death were his father Lowell Dean Burns in 1983, and grandparents Everett West, and Glen and Helen Burns.Survivors include his mother LaRue Burns, Sheridan, brother Don (Paula)Burns, Charlotte, North Carolina, maternal grandmother Beulah West, Clearmont, Missouri and nephews Nick, Dylan, and Mitch Burns.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville with burial in Sheridan Cemetery(Old), Sheridan.Memorials may be made to Sheridan Cemetery Association, Sheridan, Missouri in Ronald’s name.
