State Representative Casey Guernsey says concerns about tougher federal gun controls led him to draft a Firearms Protection Act. The Bethany Republican says he’s especially troubled by talk that President Obama could impose controls by executive order. He says that should terrify all of us.
Guernsey says the Firearms Protection Act would make it a felony for a state or federal officer to try to confiscate guns in Missouri. It also takes aim at possible new efforts to restrict ammunition magazines or semi-automatic firearms, saying any such law enacted after January first of this year would be unenforceable in Missouri. Guernsey plans to file the bill Tuesday.
