Police Chief Chris Connally says the best possible outcome to Saint Joseph’s new red light camera program would be no violations, no tickets, no $100 fines. Connally says the goal is to improve safety at two dangerous intersections, the Belt at Frederick and the northbound approach to the Belt at Cook. The chief says he hopes everybody complies and red-light-running comes to an end.
The red light cameras are up and running, and enforcement will begin soon. The city will start with a 30-day grace period in which violators receive warnings. After that, they’ll get $100 fines.
