The St Joseph School District announced Tuesday that Dr. Laura Nelson has accepted a new position in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Dr. Nelson has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the School of the Osage School District. She will assume her new duties effective July 1.
Dr. Nelson has served as the Assistant Director of Assessment and Program Evaluation here since 2008.
In this capacity she coordinated and supervised all activities for assessment, developed and facilitated district-wide program evaluations, and served as the district liaison to DESE for all curriculum and instruction related assessment issues.
Prior to her current assignment, she was the 7-12 communication arts coordinator for four years, an instructional coach, and a teacher of both AP and at-risk high school English classes. A National Board certified teacher, she holds state certifications in 7-12 social studies, 7-12 communication arts, and secondary administration.
She has a B.A. in Political Science from University of Missouri- Kansas City and an M.A. in English from Northwest Missouri State University. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy analysis from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
