The Missouri State Highway Patrol on Wednesday announced its investigators have identified the man shot by a trooper during a traffic stop Monday night.

The deceased suspect has been identified as Thomas E. Schroeder, 50, of Omaha, Nebraska.

In a news release, officials said they were able to make the correct identification on Tuesday evening after contacting family members.

 

The Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control investigators discovered several driver’s licenses and other forms of identification in Schroeder’s possession, making a positive identification difficult.

The investigation continues.
