Woodworth Returned To Livingston County Custody

Authorities have now moved Mark Woodworth out of the Department of Corrections and back into local custody, as he awaits retrial for a murder more than two decades ago.

The Missouri Supreme Court ruled last year that prosecutors failed to share evidence that could have helped Woodworth defend himself against charges of killing his neighbor in rural Chillicothe.

He was 16 years old when Cathy Robertson was fatally shot in 1990.

Woodworth has been convicted twice in Robertson’s death. Both convictions were overturned.

The high court issued a mandate Thursday ordering Woodworth discharged by the Missouri Department of Corrections and moved back into the custody of the Livingston County Sheriff. Sheriff Steve Cox says his deputies picked up Woodworth from the prison in Cameron and transported him to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail, where he will await his next court hearing.
