An investigation continues after a student at a Platte County school was found with a gun and ammunition.
In a news release, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office said a school administrator at Park Hill High School found out about it from a student Wednesday afternoon.
The administrator reported to the School Resource Officer who located the student and confiscated a handgun and ammunition.
The student was then taken into custody by deputies, and is being held in an area juvenile detention facility.
The Platte County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the school to ensure the premise was safe. No additional items of concern were located during the search. The Sheriff’s Office wants to assure all parents that at this point there are no known threats to the safety of the students or staff.
The incident is being investigated by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Platte County Juvenile Office.
