Benedictine women lose at No. 9 Mid America Nazarene, 70-65

riggertBenedictine3After leading by two points at the half, the NAIA Div. I No. 14 Benedictine College women’s basketball team was 36-29 in the second half by No. 9 MNU as the Pioneers earned a 70-65 win over the Ravens.

Benedictine (22-4, 12-2 HAAC) only two conference losses have come at the hands of the MNU (23-2, 13-1 HAAC), who takes over sole possesion of first place in the conference standings with the win.

MNU used a 48 percent shooting effort in the second half to erase a two-point halftime deficit and limited Benedictine to just eight second-half field goals.

Benedictine hit 90 percent from the charity stripe in the loss, which kept them in the game as they were limited to just 17 field goals over 40 minutes of action.

Daria Sprew scored a game-high 16 points for MNU, which finished with three players in double figures while Justice Payne led Benedictine with 13 points.
