St Joseph police are looking for a man who burglarized three southside homes over the course of about ten minutes. Officials say there could be a fourth burglary in the case.
Suspect descriptions varied somewhat, but officials are looking for a man in his 20s, between 5’10” and 6 feet tall, weighing about 165 to 180 pounds.
A call came in to dispatchers at about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday from a resident in the 200 block of Michigan Avenue. Over a short period of time, communications officers fielded two more similar calls.
Because its nearby and the suspect was still at large, officials at St James Parish placed the facility on lockdown.
A school official says they left the doors locked all day as a precaution and urged parents to pick up their children when school let out for the day.
Captain Matt Rock of the St Joseph Police Department says one of the residents was assaulted as the suspect fled from one of the homes. An ambulance was dispatched, but the injuries were not believed to be serious. Rock says a resident leveled a firearm at the suspect, but says no shots were fired.
So far there have been no arrests, and officials say nothing was taken.
