Mary Ann Stinson 1925-2013 Mary Ann Stinson, 87, passed away February 1, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 18, 1925 in Pratt, Kansas. She was the daughter of Charles Harold Stinson and Vera (Furse) Stinson. Mary Ann was a former teacher at Lafayette High School as well as Gower High School. She graduated from Central High School and St. Joseph Junior College. She left the St. Joseph area in 1971 when she pursued advanced degrees. She worked as a teacher and also was on the library staff at Scottsdale Community College. Mary Ann was a charter member of the Alpha XI Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority. She was active in educational and religious groups. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Survivors include a sister, Sue Stinson; a brother, Bob (Barbara) Stinson, both of St. Joseph; three nieces, Suanne (Jim) Turner, St. Joseph, Lisa (Gary) Baugher, Sitka, Ak, and Kimberly (Steve) Armes, St. Joseph. Alphonse J. Schwebach, 90, Stanberry, Missouri died Monday, February 11, 2013 at Pineview Manor, Stanberry, Missouri.
He was born August 2, 1922 to Matthew and Mary Barbara (Kern) Schwebach in Clyde, Missouri.
He married Mary Eulala Kohlleppel January 3, 1945.
Alphonse was a farmer for over 70 years and also worked at Pettlon Foundry for 10 years.
Mr. Schwebach was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Stanberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene Lager, Mildred Huss and Lucille O’Riley; and brothers, Leo and Bill Schwebach.
Survivors: wife, Mary Eulala Schwebach; children, Judy Arnold (Johnny), Dorothy Clements (Don), Earl Schwebach (Kathy), Jerry Schwebach (Debbie), Lori Meyer, Sam Schwebach (Debbie) and Roger Schwebach (Denise); sisters, Gertrude Jensen, Teresa Jensen and Bea Luke (Hubert); and 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Friday, St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, Missouri. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery, Stanberry, Missouri at a later date. Mary Geraldine Gach 1919-2013 Mary Geraldine Gach, 93, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, February 11, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. She was born June 7, 1919 to Charles and Emma Karl in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she had lived most of her life. Geraldine married Bernard J. Gach on November 22, 1945. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1996. She was a former employee of the Sisters Hospital. Geraldine was a member of the Catholic faith and attended the former Immaculate Conception, St. Joseph Cathedral, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. She is a past member of St. Anne’s Altar Society, Ladies of Charity, LaVerna Guild, Immaculate Conception, Social Club, Assistant Sacrastian, The Catholic Order of Forresters, and LeBlond Booster Club. Mrs. Gach was preceded in death by her husband; parents; andsister, Helen Hanway. John Ernest Williams 1935-2013 John Ernest Williams, 77, Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born February 11, 1935 to William and Elsa Williams in Blue Point, New York. He then moved to St. Joseph, Missouri. John married Shirley (Milleson) Williams who preceded him in death, and later married Velma Scroggins. He retired from TWA, at the overhaul base in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the Brotherhood Lodge #269, A.F. & A.M. and St. Joseph Lodge #78, A.F. & A.M.; Thirty-Third Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. John enjoyed playing golf. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he became a clown for the Shriners and he also drove a van taking children and their families to the Shriners Hospital for Children for treatments. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey; brother-in-law, Jack Wilcox; former wife, Shirley (Milleson) Williams; and wife, Velma (Scroggins) Williams. Survivors: companion, Florence Cox, of the home; son, Darren Williams (Becky), Savannah, Missouri; daughter, Debbie Meier (Terry), St. Joseph, Missouri; brother, William “Billy” Williams (Judy), Fresno, California; sister, Wendy Wilcox, St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandsons; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; two aunts; and several nieces and newphews.
